In addition to date codes, all LV bags also have identification marks called "Tresor"s. These rare dates represent completion of a series for the designer at that point in time. There are certain years that will never be seen on a Louis Vuitton handbag, such as 1873, 1963, and 1993. One-digit dates go from 1 to 9 while two-digit dates go from 10 to 99. One-digit codes are located only on tags with an interior lining, while two-digit and three-digit codes can be found on both interior and exterior tags. There are three types of date codes used by LV: one digit, two digits, and three digits. The number that comes off is the date code. These codes can be found by inserting a fingernail into the tag and pulling it out. LV bags do not contain serial numbers instead, "date codes" are imprinted on inner tags, directly on inside linings, or in a secret position on the bag's exterior. First and foremost, every modern Louis Vuitton item has a date code.
